BIGGER REWARD FOR A BETTER FORMAT AND MORE FUN… NEW WEEKLY FORMAT TOURNAMENTS FROM APRIL 5

We had a great year last year with new people joining the club and a lot of great comps and meets but sadly our monthly format discouraged those players who could not commit to the whole month of competitions. Skip one week and your chance to get to the Pinball HQ Masters final is gone (unless you’re PAT or alikeJ). The change from the weekly tournaments in 2015 to the monthly format in 2016 was not a plus in that respect. We had to comply with the IFPA rules to hold a FINAL to be eligible to earn any IFPA World Pinball Players Points. Can we do something about it? Can we do something better? Yes, we can do much better and this is by going back to a weekly format.

HOW THIS IS GOING TO WORK?

EVERY WED- QUALIFYING 5PM TO 10 PM – we’ll play 7 pinballs as we did before but you can have unlimited number of goes (this will give us more IFPA points)

EVERY WED - FINAL AT 6:30 PM (EST TO 8PM) – this is a final for the qualifying you did the week before.

THE FINALS FORMAT?

As per the IFPA rules no more than 50% of the players in qualifying can enter the final.

8 to 15 players in qualifying: only 4 players will play the final consisting of three 4 player games (same machine), 4,2,1,0 point system. Ties to be resolved by aggregate score.

16 or more players in qualifying: 8 player final. ROUND 1: Two groups of 4 players, playing 4 player game, the best of two. ROUND 2: Top two from each group in Round 1 proceed to the final 4 player game played two times with 4,2,1,0 point system

WHAT DIFFERENCE IT MAKES AS FAR AS THE IFPA POINTS?

Huge difference. Compare the tables below (for now ignore the “FRENZY” COLUMNS) . Last year the maximum number of points you could earn in the year was 109.19. This is 10.919 points in a month on average. With the new format, based on 15 players you can earn 5.13 each week, 20.52 in 4 weeks, sometimes we have 5 comps in a month and you would earn 25.65 points. For the year 215.46 points (based on 15 players) and 275.31 (based on 20 players) instead of 109.19 with the current system as per the last year.

DID YOU KNOW?

…that new players need to play at least 5 competitions before they contribute to IFPA point system. It will take only 5 weeks not 5 month (currently) to get the extra points for every new player. So let’s get the word out, there is 0.5 points per player, 10 players will bring 5 extra points to the base value of the tournament.
