ABOUT

The courses span almost over three decades with the very first one being held at Leisure & Allied Industries (then Australia's biggest importer of pinball machines) in Sydney in1988. They became extremely popular in the 90s and were held frequently throughout the decade in all state capitals and far north Queensland but also in New Zealand and Singapore. They were mostly attended by pinball machine operators and their technicians. That all changed at the end of the 90s when pinballs almost completely disappeared from public places as the operators struggled to earn enough revenue from pinballs.

With the exception of one course being held in Sydney in 2004, the courses were resurrected at the end of 2010 but this time the majority of the attendees were not the operators but pinball enthusiasts/collectors.

The content of the course has been evolving as new pinball systems were included in the course program.  The course is a "hands on" workshop, which aims to provide you with the most effective methods of troubleshooting, preventing you going astray and wasting time. You'll be able to work safely and test the playfield devices from the backbox and always be certain whether the problem is in the playfield or caused by a faulty board. Step by step troubleshooting will ensure that you get the right outcome in a very short time. All advices at course are practical and come from years of professional experience working as a contractor in the field and the workshop where any time wastage would adversely affect my reward.

I cannot suggest strong enough how valuable this course is to the hobbyist or professional. The input from Norbert is great but also from others in the course who have different experiences. The course also covers Stern's pinball  system and easily shows how similar pinball troubleshooting is no matter what the operating system. If you have a pinball or interest in pinball come along to the course.

Rod Brooks (Pinball People Pty Ltd)

Do yourself a favour, if you have any interest in pinball, attend this course and find out how easy they are to maintain or fix, and the passion for pinball shared by fellow pin heads. I loved this course and it has armed me to resolve a few niggling problems I have now, plus the knowledge to repair far more serious issues if I need too. Pinball is making a big comeback, this course prepares you to be ready for the new generation.

Dwight Bonney

I found Norbert’s course Great! I have a number of machines and fair bit of experience fixing them but I still was able to gain a great deal from the course. Some of the fault finding techniques he showed me I will find invaluable. The course is a great combination of theory & practical work. You get to try out what you are learning. Norbert has a great way of explaining the theory and takes the time to make sure that the less experience members of the group understand what he is trying to teach them. I would recommend the course to both beginners in the hobby & people with a great deal of experience.

Wesley Richardson

Norbert’s course is very interesting, informative and is presented in a way that all participants will gain something positive. Excellent course for me. Can’t wait to start applying some of the new techniques learned. Norbert has great presentation skills making all participants feel like he is just speaking directly to them. All questions/issues covered and answered without side-tracking too much from original course material.

Peter Menzel

Excellent course, great content, flow of information and instruction. Even though I have 30 years of experience as a technician and instructor, I learned more than enough to be a confident trouble shooter on pinball machines. I received more than I had hopped for with hands on troubleshooting techniques and sharing information with the other students. It is always a bonus to have someone like Norbert with his enthusiasm and knowledge of the industry.

Tommy Fair

We travelled from Canberra to Sydney, well worth the trip! I have gained a great amount of knowledge about fault finding and feel ready to tackle any fault on the Williams pinball system, considering I started with very basic knowledge of pinball machines. A true credit to a great training!

Craig Smith

Thank you Norbert for your excellent explanation on troubleshooting pinball machines. This information will be very helpful to diagnose and repair faults with greater efficiency. I am very grateful for all the wonderful advice and tips.

Richard Anderson (Andersons Electronics)

I have been looking forward to this training to refine my fault finding techniques for a very long time and Norbert's training surpassed my expectations. Our weekend had attendees from experienced techs to new owners that had their pinball for a week and the training met everyone's needs.

Don't pass up any opportunity to attend one of Norbert's courses to improve your skills and meet like minded people.

Gavin Ford

Thanks for a great course Norbert. I feel very confident that I will be able to not only identify a problem with my machine but also to fix it with the information and knowledge you have shown during the two days.

Stephen Best

An amazing insight into the workings of modern pinball machines. From being mystified by the circuit boards and components that live in the back box to happily testing and understanding their functions.

This course breaks down a machine into understandable parts and explains how to diagnose what is wrong and where to look for faults. Thank you Norbert for sharing all your knowledge and experience.

Dom Slevin

I honestly felt nervous about doing a course I had not a clue about. After doing this course I felt more relaxed, excited, inspired and comfortable about a subject I had zero knowledge about. You don't need to be a pinball technician to see how valuable this knowledge can be. I am more than happy to have done this course and I have a strong feeling I will come back to do it again. If not for refresher, it will be for networking and fun. Thank you so much!

Amanda Jabbour

Norbert's course is great for any person interested  in the operation  of pinball from beginners to advanced. Norbert's approach to students is terrific and he welcomes all questions throughout the 2 day course with great perfection.  An enjoyable 2 days!

Allan Whichelo

Norbert Snicer is absolute pinball master who is able to demystify pinball machines in such simple and friendly way. I feel personally empowered having completed the course to do significantly more maintenance with respect to my machines. Norbert took time to help us understand troubleshooting techniques that you could use across many different generations of pinball machine systems e.g. WPC, WPC 95, SAM etc.

I totally and completely recommend this course to anyone interested in learning more about the magic of pinball. Norbert Snicer is passionate about pinball and promoting it especially for future generations to enjoy.

Respectfully

The course is great value for money. Norbert is able to breakdown the functions and ways to fix problems in PLAIN ENGLISH! Great experience. Hope I can remember it all. Thanks.

Brett Suttor

What a great course Norbert offers. I found it very informative in a fun atmosphere with an instructor who not only has plenty of knowledge but also patience in bucketfuls.

Best money I ever spent in this hobby. Thanks Norbert, thoroughly enjoyed it.

The 2 day troubleshooting course breaks down pinball machines and really puts things into perspective.  If you've ever looked underneath a pinball playfield and thought 'What the ..?!' then this is for you!  For me it reminded me again of why I love pinballs so much.

Anthony Kerr (Sports Enterprises Pty Ltd)

I was very pleased with how thorough the course was and believe it builds a perfect foundation to be able to understand & troubleshoot pinballs. Good balance of practicality & theory.

Aaron Far (Anare Pty Ltd)

'Two-days' saved me a likely 'two-years' worth (or more) of frustration. Very glad I got to do this essential course early on in my pinball journey.

Robert Cartlidge

Very thorough, step by step instruction with easy to follow practical examples. Interesting and entertaining material presentation.
